Spring Research Deep Dive: Home

REQUIREMENTS FOR SOURCES

  • At least SIX sources must appear in your bibliography (and in NoodleTools) by the end of the project.
    • NOTE: these are six sources that you have USED to research and write your essay. Therefore, each one should be cited in your footnotes as well!
  • No more than two of these may be from the “Overview” sources section of your topic’s page.
    • You may use AS MANY of the sources from the “Deep Dive” section as you like, however…
    • You must also use at least TWO sources that you have located on your own. These two must be either BOOK sources or web sources that are "academic" in nature (we will discuss how to evaluate web sources in class). These must be sources that made a significant contribution to your essay. In other words, these are two sources that you cite multiple times.
  • NONE of the sources in your bibliography are permitted to be Wikipedia, encyclopedias, almanacs, fact books, “About.com” or “Quora” type sources, guidebooks, manuals, or textbooks. Remember, it's fine to start your research at sources like these, but you must not end there!
